Looking to make a difference in 2024? Volunteer with Montoursville Fire Department

As the New Year approaches, many of us are looking for resolutions that improve our health and well-being. But this year, why not go beyond personal goals and make a real difference in the community? In 2024, discover “The Montoursville Way” and join the dedicated team of volunteers at Montoursville Fire Department.

“Volunteering has been an incredible opportunity for me, where every moment is a chance to contribute, connect, and grow,” said Matthew Waggoner, firefighter and station captain. “It’s not an obligation, but a path to genuine opportunities, a closer bond with our community, and the joy of making a real difference.”

Joining Montoursville is an easy process, and all training and gear are provided free of charge. No prior training or experience is required for new members to join.

Montoursville Fire Department responds to approximately 2,000 fire and EMS calls per year. Members pride themselves on rigorous training, ensuring they are well prepared to serve a 30 square mile coverage area, including mutual aid calls throughout Lycoming County.

If being active in the community is your New Year’s resolution, then Montoursville Fire Department is the place for YOU. When not training and saving lives, Montoursville’s volunteers are active participants in community events and can be seen at Fall Festival, National Night Out and at school Fire Prevention Week programs.

  • EMTs: Administer pre-hospital medical care and transport the sick and injured to hospital, ensuring their well-being during critical moments. EMTs are skilled in handling rescue calls, from motor vehicle accidents to diverse medical emergencies.
  • Fire Police: Help maintain order and safety during emergency situations. Direct traffic, control crowds, and assist firefighters in ensuring effective operation.
